Modern, chic and stylish, short hair serves major eternal style this wedding season. Whether cropped pixie short or a modern shattered bob, short hair can look elegant or fashionably fresh. So you need some styling inspo for your big day and can’t think of a look past what you usually attempt every morning before work-I have some stylish suggestions that will have you looking back at your wedding day photos with pride. Short hair can transform your individual day look from edgy to wedding day demure, feminine and glamourous with the right styling for the right wedding gown.
Many women believe short hair limits your ability to create different looks from less hair, however unless you are pixie short you have endless looks that can run from playful to bold and sexy. Many celebrities prove that short hair can be just as glamorous as long locks on the red carpet. Michelle Williams, Rhianna, Charlize Theron, Katie Holmes, Naomi Watts and Keira Knightly have all stolen our breath and enamoured us at some point with their shorter hair. They nail it every time.
Without a doubt accessories play a huge part in creating a multitude of breathtaking wedding looks. Chunky bejewelled headbands or simple elegant finer pieces can balance out less volume against a fuller wedding gown. I love a softer tulle headband with a few jewels and fabric pieces and ribbon to really catch your eye against a shorter hairstyle. Retro earrings and sparkling necklaces will all add to your allure. Bejewelled combs are also a great option if you have a short bob or a touch more hair to hold it in place. A floral halo will look soft and sweet and is the perfect accessory for any boho bride.
Depending on your individual style there are a couple of simple rules I would stick to when choosing a headpiece for your wedding day. If you choose a larger, bolder bejewelled piece for your headwear with shorter hair, stay understated with your earrings as not to create a “sensory overload”. As Coco Chanel said “before leaving the house, a lady should look in the mirror and remove one accessory.” This goes for competing earrings and neck pieces-less is more. Even if you are a glamour puss- too much around your face and neckline will overwhelm your beautiful face not enhance it.
Pixie Cut
A woman who can wear a pixie cut can carry off anything. Wedding gown sans jewellery will look chic and modern. If you prefer a little more razzle, try a headband whilst wearing your hair in your usual style. A small floral halo will look fresh and sweet depending on the style of your dress.
Short with Longer Bangs
Wear the fringe tousled and fuller and piece out the ends to add some separation. A headband will look stunning or a jewelled clip on the shorter side of your hair will add some glamour without being too much or overwhelming.
Short Bob
Add some texture and use a small barrel curler to curl your hair. Run your hands through with a level 2 mouse and dry it in. pin up one side with a chunky jewelled clip or add a finer headband. Maybe weave through a headband through your hair, clipping it under the top layer of wave so it’s unseen.
Longer Bob
If Old Hollywood glamour is your style then with the help of some hot rollers and styling lotion, part your hair on the side and brush out the curls. Place your curls using shine serum to frame your face and sweep back behind one ear.
If the effortlessly undone Boho bride is your look, then dry in styling mousse, curl with a small barrel curling wand and then tousle your hair once finished curling. Loosely pin back sections, leaving some hair around your face to soften your look. Add a floral comb in the lower back section of your sexy hair do! Voila!
