Real Essense of Australia Bride: Lauren + Norm

A love of robots, Chicago – and maybe just a little fate – got Real Bride, Lauren, and her husband to their wedding day at the Field Museum. The beautiful backdrop, stunning Essense of Australia wedding dress, beaming friends and family, and happy couple were all photographed by Victoria Sprung.

From the bride: Norm and I were randomly assigned to sit next to each other on a flight. We started talking and realized that we were headed to the same wedding; my cousin was the bride and Norm’s best friend was the groom. Luckily, neither of us brought a date and we kept in touch afterwards! He proposed at the Villa Cora while we were vacationing in Tuscany, and it was perfect! We had the most beautiful backdrop for such a special event.

We live in NYC, but had our wedding in Chicago since we both grew up there. We were so touched that so many of our friends and family members were able to make it to the special day. I had a special moment when walking down the Field Museum’s grand staircase with my dad, and saw my best friends, closest family members and my soon-to-be husband all in one room — it was very touching. I really enjoyed all of the planning, and I loved seeing all the details come together!

My advice is to keep things fun and personalized! Our guests loved the gilded T-Rex dinosaurs I had put on the escort cards. Norm and I have a running joke about robots, so they were our DIY cake-topper (I made them from a salt and pepper shaker set).

Congratulations, Lauren + Norm!
