Real Essense of Australia Bride Dara and Dominique

Dara and Dominique’s journey began in high school, but it wasn’t until years later that their friendship turned into something more.

Fast-forward to their wedding day, and Dara had one vision in mind: to feel like a fairy. Her stunning Essense of Australia Style D3735, with its delicate details and dreamy silhouette, moved effortlessly in the wind as she walked toward Dominique.

Set against the dramatic backdrop of Makoshika State Park, with powerful gusts of wind adding to the magic, their ceremony was an intimate reflection of their love.

From a non-traditional color palette to a playful reception filled with games, their wedding reflected who they are. The most unforgettable moment was their sunset photos—soaking in the big day. Check out their love story in the wind!

DARA, TELL US ABOUT YOUR PARTNER.  HOW DID YOU MEET?

Dominique and I met in high school. We had known each other for five years before we started dating. Dom gave me a spiny ring with no intentions of anything before we left for college or even started dating, but I kept that ring all these years. Dom is the most loving, caring and thoughtful man I could ever ask for.

DESCRIBE YOUR BRIDAL STYLE. TELL US ABOUT YOUR DRESS SHOPPING EXPERIENCE.

I wanted to feel like a fairy! My gown, Essense of Australia D3735, was swinging beautifully and had extra details. I wanted my husband to turn around and tear up, which he did.

On our wedding day I felt the most beautiful that I’ve ever felt. It was a windy day and my dress blew around elegantly.

IN YOUR OWN WORDS, TELL US MORE ABOUT YOUR WEDDING.

Our ceremony was held in our hometown at Makoshika State Park in the outdoor amphitheater. The wind was blowing 50+ mph, but our photographer captured every moment. Dom was so nervous on our wedding day! When he turned around to see me in my dress, he was clearly holding back tears. So much so, I was almost tearing up as well.

We were both so present for each other when doing our vows and were crying because they were so personal and referenced the things we love together: video games, audiobooks, and spending quality time together.

The most special memory was the sunset photos. It was just us and our amazing photographer truly capturing our love and every other emotion.

We had a non-traditional wedding in terms of color scheme—blacks, reds and burgundy with a splash of gold and green—as well as a gown change to a black dress.

We also had a variety of mini cupcakes in four different flavors as well as different games like a large word search, little questionnaires, Mad Libs, and other activities.
