How To: Get Rid of Acne FAST

Did you know that the most googled and asked beauty question on the interwebs is “How to get rid of pimples?!” Not just in 2017, but for several years! So it seems a perfect topic to address in the blog so early in the year so we can be on top of any annoying little surprises that pop up unexpectedly and try to ruin our picture perfect wedding day! The truth is acne although thought to be something we deal with through adolescence is, in fact, something we can still face right up until the age of sixty! GULP!

Acne is caused by an overproduction of sebum. There are 6 types of acne, none of which we want to face on our wedding day. A flare-up can be caused by hormones, stress, genetics, diet, medications and cosmetic products ie shampoos, makeup and hair products!

First and foremost, if acne is something you deal with on a daily basis, you need to consult a conservative and experienced dermatologist. They will get you on a fast track to clearer skin. Blemish free skin IS a reality. Different skin types behave differently and so sometimes by trying a googled treatment that helped one person can actually scar another or cause discoloration. A trained dermatologist will actually know the correct route to take with the most efficacies.

DERMATOLOGIST TREATMENTS INCLUDE
1. MICRODERMABRASION
2. SKIN NEEDLING
3. CHEMICAL PEELS
4. LIGHT THERAPY
5. DRAINAGE/EXTRACTION
6. HIGH INTENSITY LASERS
7. DIODE LASERS
8. HORMONE THERAPY
9. ANTIBIOTICS
10. TOPICAL RETINOIDS (VITAMIN A)

FOR AT HOME TREATMENTS YOU CAN TRY
1. TEA TREE OIL-antimicrobial, antifungal and antibacterial. This product needs to be diluted in extra virgin olive oil or jojoba oil then applied to your pimples.

2. FINE GRAIN SALT RINSE/GENTLE EXFOLIATION- in your shower lightly apply this and gently scrub your skin with the salt.

3. BAKING SODA MASK -Baking soda mixed with water is awesome for getting rid of blackheads. Put the mixture on your nose after the shower and all the blackheads come right out! Perfect for congested skin. RECIPE: 1 tbsp. water mixed with 1 tsp. baking soda. Mix baking soda with water to create a paste so measurements might be different. Once it looks like a paste, exfoliate it onto the skin and leave it on for 10 minutes. After rinsing with water, blackheads will be softer and ready to come out. NOTE: this mask is only recommended for congested skin types and only twice a month.

4. APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND WATER-mix one part ACV and 4 parts water. Dab onto your skin with a cotton ball or spritz onto your face. No need to wash it off. It balances your PH making you less dry and less oily.

5. ICE- Wrap an ice cube in a cotton handkerchief and massage it across your skin. It’s remarkable the effect this has on inflammation, swelling, redness and pore reduction. ICE FACIAL-HOW TO- Fill a large bowl with water and two trays of ice cubes. Cut up some cucumber and add it to the water. Dunk your face for 15 seconds. Repeat this several times over 20 minutes. Pat skin dry. This helps with lessening your oil production and also swelling and puffiness. Refines pores too! If you are prone to redness or rosacea, do not apply the cube to your face. Applying an ice cube to the roof of your mouth will help reduce the flushing of your skin because it’s a receptor site that constricts blood vessels in the face when cooled.

6. ASPIRIN- dissolve an aspirin into warm water before freezing it as a cube, as the acetylsalicylic acid helps to dry up breakouts.
